Overview / Background
Founded in 2008, the Stepping-Stone Scholarship was created to help promising young people from Knox and Laurel counties in Kentucky (including Barbourville) access higher education opportunities.
Award Amount
Recipients receive $4,000 per academic year, renewable for up to four years.
Who is eligible
- First-time college entrants only: this includes graduating high school seniors and adults who are enrolling in college for the first time.
- Must reside in Knox County or Laurel County, Kentucky (Barbourville residents are included).
- U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Plan to enroll as a full-time student.
- No minimum grade point average is required for eligibility.
How to apply
Submit the East Tennessee Foundation Common Application during the application window of December 15 through March 15 to determine eligibility for the Stepping-Stone Scholarship and other awards.
