In line with Kelly's unwavering commitment, the KLL Scholarship Foundation was created to assist young adults in obtaining a college degree. Every year, the KLL Memorial Foundation will identify suitable candidates to provide both financial and emotional support as they chase their dreams in the wake of cancer.
Eligibility
Requirements: To be eligible, the applicant must fulfill the following conditions:
- Have lost at least one parent (biological or otherwise) to cancer before reaching 22 years of age.
- Be a US citizen residing in either Kansas or Missouri.
- Enroll in a higher education institution offering a minimum of a 2- or 4-year program.
- Have a passion for education, arts, environment, math, or science.
- Demonstrate involvement in community service, church, school, or other extracurricular activities.
- Show a financial need.
- Submit a fully completed application, including a personal essay and a reference.
- Provide a copy of the deceased parent's death certificate.
- Submit a recent personal photo and a family photo that includes the deceased parent.
Disbursement: The scholarship is a $2,000 grant, renewable for up to four years (a maximum total of $8,000), and is awarded annually. To renew, the recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
A letter from the educational institution confirming this requirement is met must be submitted. Once the previous year's confirmation is received, funds for the subsequent year will be released. The funds will be paid directly to the college or university.
Application Process
Scholarships are granted annually. We urge you to fill out and return the scholarship application or pass it on to potential candidates. Applications can be downloaded at any time and are due in early January each year. The award schedule is as follows:
January - Deadline for application & related materials
March - Award recipients are notified
July/August - Scholarship award banquet for recipients
