SCGA Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by SCGA Junior Golf Foundation
Introduction
Only current high school seniors who have been active SCGA Junior members for at least two years are eligible to apply. All applicants must meet the academic and participation criteria below and submit the required materials.
Eligibility (New Applicants)
- Must be a current high school senior and have participated in SCGA Junior programs for a minimum of two years; degree of involvement will be considered in the selection process.
- Must have a cumulative weighted GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
- Must plan to enroll in an accredited institution of higher learning (two‑year or four‑year college/university, or a vocational/technical school).
- Must register as a full‑time student (minimum 12 units at a four‑year university).
- Must demonstrate ambition, academic ability, leadership, and a commitment to community service.
Required Application Materials
All applicants are required to submit:
- Completed application form
- Budget sheet
- Current resume
- Two letters of recommendation from either community service supervisors or academic professionals
- Responses to short-answer questions and current financial information
Minimum academic status and enrollment must be maintained for consideration and, if awarded, for continued funding.
Scholar Responsibilities (If Awarded)
Recipients must comply with the following conditions each year the scholarship is held:
- Complete 20 hours of community service annually.
- Participate in SCGA Junior events and be prepared to speak at them.
- Provide written reports on academic progress and submit final grades for every semester or quarter.
- Send an annual written thank-you note to the scholarship donors.
- Attend the scholarship renewal reception held during winter break and the scholar recognition dinner in June.
Renewal
The scholarship may be renewed for up to four years, contingent on continued full‑time enrollment, maintaining the minimum GPA, and fulfilling the scholar responsibilities listed above.
