Overview
NYSATA gives four one-time scholarships each year to graduating seniors who intend to continue their education in the visual arts at a college art program. Applicants must be students of teachers who are current NYSATA members.
Eligibility
- Graduating high school seniors planning to attend a College Art Program.
- Applicant must be taught by a sponsoring teacher who holds current NYSATA membership.
Student checklist (what you must prepare)
1. Create a portfolio slideshow using the NYSATA slide template (follow the instructions inside the template).
2. Complete the NYSATA Media Release permitting NYSATA to use and publish your work.
3. Obtain one letter of recommendation from your art teacher.
4. Put all materials into a single folder you can share (Google Drive or Dropbox). If you use a school Google account, make sure your folder’s sharing settings allow access by people outside your school.
5. When your folder is ready, e-mail the shareable link to your sponsoring teacher.
Teacher responsibilities
- Your teacher must be a current NYSATA member and will submit your application online for you.
- Teachers must upload/enter the student’s application by May 31 using the online submission form (you will need your NYSATA member username and password to log in).
Important deadline
- All teacher submissions (links to student folders) must be received by May 31.

- Zara B. Kimmey Award: $1,000
- Bill Milliken Award: $500
- Aida Snow/Elaine Goldman Award: $500
- Aida Snow/Elaine Goldman Award: $500
