Overview
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is pleased to announce the 2025 Culpepper Exum Scholarship, made possible by nephrology social worker Beth Witten in memory of her brother. The scholarship supports two individuals who are receiving dialysis or who have received a kidney transplant in pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must reside in either Kansas or Missouri.
Background
Beth Witten created the Culpepper Exum Scholarship to honor her brother, who lived with diabetes and underwent dialysis before passing from heart disease. The fund’s goal is to assist two eligible individuals each school year in attending accredited post-secondary or vocational programs.
Award information
- Two scholarships will be granted each school year: one awarded to a Kansas resident and one to a Missouri resident.
- Each scholarship is up to $1,000. Payments are made directly to the educational institution.
Who may apply
- Residents of Kansas or Missouri.
- Individuals currently on dialysis, kidney transplant recipients, or people with chronic kidney disease in Stages 2–5. If you’re unsure which stage applies to you, please consult a member of your healthcare team.
- Funds may be used at any accredited trade school, continuing education program, college/university, or other career-advancement program.
